In 2012 we will present 3 new maps covering area never used for orienteering before. For the first time all maps will be made with help of LIDAR (laser scaning) basemaps. Exact positions of competition area can be see in Google maps on link;

MAP OF STAGES

1st stage 24^th July 2012 - middle - GOLUBINJAK

Golubinjak

Primeval forest never exploited by human. Plenty of depressions with impressive cliffs and boulders will occur on map. Expect some breath-taking landscapes! For all of you willing of adventure several caves are in area which may be explored with head lamp. Whole area is under strict protection so please take care about you garbage. Above you can see map sample. Area was never used for orienteering before.

2^nd stage 25^th July 2012 - sprint - GRAD KRK

From ancient times on island of Krk people started to build one of the bigest urban places on Croatian islands – Krk. And what did they made? Beautiful town placed on clifs splashed by Adriatic sea in heart of Kvarner region with narrow stony streats and pasess withot traffic. Beside old town centre map will also cover park terrain eastern from city with pleanty of details. Map sample showing irregular net of narrow streets which will be charasteritic for Krk. Whole competition area is covered with virtual tour.

3^rd stage 27^th July 2012 - long - BUKOVAC SUNGERSKI

On this stage we will present you interesting new area near Bukovac Sungerski. Giant depressions with extreme karst details (boulders, cliffs and caves) on north, fast and steep continental slopes on east combined with flat detailed terrain on southern part of map. Some parts of map will be in strict forest reserve soo please take care about nature. Above you can see map sample. Area was never used for orienteering before.

4^th stage 28^th July 2012 - short-long - SUNGERSKI LUG

Coplete valley Sungerski lug will be drawn on gorgeous map covering flat part of this true orienteering pearl. Map will be placed beetween two mountain ridges - Bitoraj massive (with mountain peaks up to 1400 m) on south and Mrkovac mountain with Debeli vrh (1145 m) on northern side, but map will present only flat area on altitude of 800 m. 5^th stage 29^th July 2012 - middle - SUNGERSKI LUG

Last stage of Croatia open 2012 will be fun middle in flat terrain on 800 m asl. Terrain is full of small depressions, marshes, lakes, shallow and deep holes with infinity of small valleys and ridges covered with young forest reducing visibility - a perfect positions for hiding controls. Beside competition maps, we will also provide you several training maps in close vicinity to Croatia open 2012 competition areas.

Training maps are available on price of 5€ per piece and will be possible to get upon your arrival to Delnice. Training maps will be printed offset in CMYK either with course from previous editions of Croatia open or with control points - marked in forest by water resistant paper marker (10x10 cm). Maps from previous editions of Croatia open will be available on price of 2€ per piece.
