CO: Hello again Pavel... It seems you are slowly adapting to karst terrain...

PK: Yes, today I had no problem with finding the flags. It was just great.

PK: (describes his route)

S-1 Towards first control I tried to run on path and straight, but I don't think that was the best... I had too much climbing on this route. After path, I used ridge for navigation and already at that big ridge before first control I felt really tired. After ridge I checked small hole and then had plan to run straight towards control, but green area drawn on map was not as visible as I expected it will be. But, I found control without any problems.

1-2 Here I tried to avoid green area. I think it was quite good route choice.

2-3 I only used my compass and run straight.

3-4 I made stupid mistake already at the beginning of the leg. I went straight in north direction and suddenly I found myself in path curve where I had to run back... Quite stupid, afterwards I tried to avoid climbing and decided to run on path in eastern part of „small" hill. On this path there was one woman and she was crying (probably because she didn't know where she was) so I decided to stop and show her on the map where she is, but it was only 5 seconds. I used depressions for navigation and went on small path (towards 7th control point). Forest was quite runnable there and I tried to push hard... On control point there was refreshment where I drunk a lot.

4-5 on that control I decided to use path as much as possible. Before control, there was a lot branches on the ground and it was quite difficult to run there.

5-6 On the beginning I was think about going around on the road but, than I realized it is only longer and since forest is quite runnable I went straight.

6-7 I checked my compass and run towards two depressions east of the control. Control was placed in deep hole quite hidden, but I had no problem with that.

7-8 I planned to go straight but, than I didn't look at my compass and I went too much in western direction. It was quite tought there physicly.

8-9 Easy leg. Nice downhill.

9-10 I used the same route as for the 8th control. Depressions before control were big and helped me a lot in navigation. Valley where control was placed was quite visible.

10-11 First I wanted to go between depressions but, than I said this is too deep, go around. There I made small mistake running to much in northern direction.

11-12 I used path, than ridge. Depressions seemed really nice and it was nice to use them for navigation. Green was quite good for running and you can keep quite high pace in the area, but it only had influence on visibility due to low branches.

12-13 Here it was just compass checking. I walked there and felt exhausted.

13-14 I was just running straight ahead. I only wanted to avoid this hill at the beginning of the leg, but than I was running almost straight. Here I was running with my friend from Czech Republic and we had quite good pace. I used paths as much as possible.

14-15 I used path agin. Depressions there was really deep and if you decide to run straight throught depressions you could lose a lot energy.

15-16 I was really tired (especiačly on paths). I missed junction before control and I had to run back. My brain was blocked. I was really tired and it was difficult to stay focused. After one hour of running.

16-17 Straight. No problem.

17-18 There was a path throught green area made by runners who run efore me and it was difficult to run uphill.

18-19 I decided to use path - terrain was stony and I was to tired to run on it.

19-20 Just running down and finally running into finish.

PK: I think this course was better than course on JWOC this year. There was no route-choices in Poland (my opinion) and you offer us nice long distance stage, thank you for that. Despite the fact that I am really tired I'm very pleased with my performance today.

CO: Pavel, thank you very much for this interview.
