1st stage 23rd July 2013 - middle - MALO SELO

cl1

Hard karst on altitude of 800m. Map will be revised in May 2013.

2nd stage 24th July 2012 - sprint - GRAD KRK

Grad Krk old map

From ancient times on island of Krk people started to build one of the bigest urban places on Croatian islands – Krk. And what did they made? Beautiful town placed on clifs splashed by Adriatic sea in heart of Kvarner region with narrow stony streats and pasess withot traffic. Beside old town centre map we will use new area on western part of town never used for orienteering before covering both urban area and camp Ježevac.  Whole competition area is covered with virtual tour.

3rd stage 26th July 2012 - long - SUNGER

sunger

New map covering area never used for orienteering. Mix of karst, continentall and unique flat terrain. We will have to make unique precedent by making double contour interval on map (2,5 m for flat part of map and 5 m for steep part!).

4th stage 27th July 2012 - long - BUKOVAC SUNGERSKI

Bukovac

Valley of Sungerski lug will be combined with Golubinjak! We will have to make unique precedent by making double contour interval on map (2,5 m for flat part of map and 5 m for steep part!). Drastic change of terrain in only one map. Run faster than 5min/km on almost scandinavian type of terrain and than enter stony "devil´s garden" where elite runners can´t run under 10min/km! Map sample is showing southern part of map. As usual, laser scaning basemaps will be used for maping.

5th stage 28th July 2012 - middle - GOLUBINJAK

Golubinjak

Last stage of Croatia open 2013 will be placed in stony area of protected park forest Golubinjak. Romans called this area hortus diabolicus or "devil´s garden". Why? Hmm, you will have to find out by yourself! One of most extreme maps ever drawn and used for orienteering with plenty of stony tunnels, giant boulders and high cliffs!

More about courses and drawn areas can be found in analysis section.
